Position Summary Timmins Transit’s mission is “To excel in the provision of a protected, reliable, efficient and customer service focused public transportation system”. As a Transit Mechanic, you play a key role in providing this service. Under the supervision of the Transit Mechanical Supervisor, you will work with a team of proud trade persons to maintain municipally owned transit buses and vehicles.
Duties Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on the conventional and para-transit fleet
Ability to perform semi-annual safety inspections
Ability to perform electrical and multiplexing diagnosis and repairs
Ability to perform engine, transmission diagnosis and repairs
Ability to perform steering and suspension system diagnosis and repairs
Ability to perform pneumatic system diagnosis and repairs
Maintain shop tools and equipment for safe use
Work in a clean and safe manner following corporate and departmental policies and procedures
Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
Required to participate and support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program in order to help foster a culture of operational excellence
Ability to perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications Ontario 310T Truck and Coach Technician certificate required
Ontario 310S Automotive Service Technician certificate preferred
Applicants must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence
Minimum 3-5 years related experience
Should have mechanical knowledge of buses and/or coaches
Ability to rebuild components such as engines, transmissions and overhauling of equipment
Must have knowledge of hydraulics and diagnostic ability
Basic computer skills with the ability to work with a computerized maintenance management system and electronic diagnostic equipment
Knowledge of repairs of HVAC systems an asset
