GeneralResponsibilities Supervise and lead a team of techniciansto ensure production & financial goals of the unit aremet Perform requiredadministrative duties, including work schedules, payrolltimesheets, expenses, etc Provide training and mentoring to allstaff to ensuring SOP’s are available, followed andimplemented Provideregular feedback to staff including through the annual performanceevaluation program Comply with company policies regardingthe hiring, discipline and termination ofemployees Responsiblefor planning work schedules for barn staff in accordance withlabour budgets Lead oraid with the movement of pigs in and out of assignedunit Ensure unit is CPE& ACA compliant Responsible for implementing andfollowing assigned feed budgets and provide feed bin inventories asrequired Ensure lowstress animal handling practices are beingfollowed Implement allbiosecurity protocols, including shower in, shower out, rodentcontrol, visitors, security of unit, etc. Work with Health Services to implementherd health protocols – sanitation, treatments, vaccinations,etc.
Monitor andmaintain proper ventilation and temperature control settings forthe unit Coordinatemaintenance in and outside of barn, including manure management,ventilation, feed & water systems, penning/slats, andgeneral building maintenance, yard upkeep, dead removal &snow; removal UnderstandOH&S; regulations associated with the Unit and ensurecompliance with the use of personal protective equipment, safe workprocedures and company policies Ensure incidents at unit are documentedand reported in a timely manner Conduct regular staffmeetings Maintainproper inventory of general and veterinary barn supplies, orderfrom Central Purchasing as needed Test, respond and acknowledge barnalarms and ensure adequate coverage for afterhours is maintained atall times & be available for emergencyduties Ensurepreventative maintenance & procedures on barn equipment areperformed and verified Other duties asrequired RequiredExperience Strongpersonnel, management, leadership, time management, training& motivational skills A clear focus toattain results The ability to hold effectivestaff meetings Computer skills – ability tounderstand and analyze production and financial records &budgets; Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills.
