Summary of Duties Process emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance and fire response Communicate with individuals under stress Provide pre-arrival instructions Direct and coordinate ambulance and fire unit movement Operate complex computer-aided telecommunications equipment Qualifications/Skills Minimum 18 years of age, and Grade 12 education or equivalent Communicate effectively and tactfully, both oral and written Read, interpret, understand and apply complex and overlapping policies Solid multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills Ability to maintain control under pressure, work at a fast pace in an unpredictable environment Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking Make sound, independent decisions, and exercise discretion during emergency/difficult/stressful situations,
and be accountable for such decisions Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and stakeholders Strong computer literacy, data entry, retrieval and keyboarding skills Experience in Emergency Services would be an asset Job offer is conditional on: successful criminal background check, current standard first aid and CPR certificate; successful completion of all training requirements and ACO Provincial Certification; and Restricted Radio Operator Certification.
Candidates will be required to attend and successfully complete a 12-week FT training program.
