I am an emergency physician, single mom, with most of my family living in another province. I need childcare for my 10 year old daughter and some general housekeeping/meal prep as needed. I work shift work; but rarely night shift. I work approximately 14 shifts per month.
On some occasions my nanny elected to take my daughter to her place for the night when I worked late shift and that is an option. Alternatively, I do have a spare bedroom for use if you prefer to sleep here on late nights instead of driving home as well.
My daughter goes to a small private school from 8:20-3 pm, that does have before and after school care options if needed depending on your availability. My daughter has dance as her main extracurricular activity, which is a few times per week and is a less than 5 minute drive, (as is her school).
You would need to be able to drive, and host play dates at times.
My current nanny is leaving us because she has a job offer that she can’t pass up. She has been with us since we came to BC more than 3 years ago and will be available to help occasionally.
Our current arrangement is that I pay a set amount every week, (regardless whether she works or not), but she remains available as long as I give sufficient notice. We can mirror this or just pay what is worked.
My daughter goes to NS for the summer,
and approximately 8-10 weeks throughout the school year. I paid our nanny during those 8-10 weeks but not the summer. Pay is negotiable depending on your availability, and duties you are able to perform (I currently employ a separate house cleaner for example, and if no before/after school care is required through her school).
At 10 years old my daughter doesn’t require a lot of hands on care, but will need someone to be around for several more years. She is a highly intelligent and affectionate girl. She needs reminding to keep on tasks, and has lots of energy. I limit her screen time, and she will eat all vegetables…needs convincing for meat because she doesn’t like the thought of eating animals.
I have high expectations from her and disrespectful behaviour towards anyone would never be indulged. Our current nanny was always dependable and organized; we will miss her contribution to our little family.
I would like to speak with references. Start date is versatile. Having your own vehicle and drivers license is required.
