Duties & Responsibilities

- Install, fabricate, and assemble sheet metal components for commercial, institutional, industrial, and healthcare projects.
- Read and interpret blueprint drawings, shop drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
- Work collaboratively under the direction of the Project Foreperson to complete assigned tasks efficiently and safely.
- Uphold Modern Niagara’s safety protocols and contribute to a strong safety culture on site.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and ensure high‑quality workmanship.
- Mentor and support apprentices as they develop their skills.
- Perform additional related duties as required.

Must‑Haves

- Red Seal Sheet Metal Worker certification (or equivalent provincial qualification).
- Experience installing sheet metal systems on ICI or large‑scale construction projects.
- Strong print‑reading skills and ability to interpret schematic and isometric drawings.
- Ability to work at heights with all required safety training completed.




- Excellent communication skills and a professional, team‑oriented attitude.
- Strong mechanical problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all site protocols.
- Ability to work independently and within a team workplace.
- Willingness to mentor apprentices and contribute to their development.

Nice‑to‑Haves

- Previous experience on major Halifax or Atlantic Canada construction projects.
- Membership in a local Sheet Metal union (e.g., Local 409) or eligibility for dispatch.
- Experience working with Modern Niagara or similar large mechanical contractors.

Compensation

This is a unionized position. Pay Rate: In accordance with the applicable collective agreement for Nova Scotia.
