The Work

As part of a growing and dynamic Commercial team, the Associate, Special Loans and Restructuring will assist the Special Loans team with the management and oversight of the Commercial portfolio of delinquent and problem accounts, which consists of all Commercial lending products.

The Associate will provide direct support to the Associate Director, Special Loans on day‑to‑day portfolio management and reporting requirements. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing reports, attending and assisting at meetings, monitoring portfolios, driving projects and initiatives, and other administrative duties. The Associate will maintain and action the loan collections process for assigned loans, contacting clients, internal teams and partners regarding arrears, maturing mortgages, past due taxes, and other non‑compliance matters. The incumbent will also assist Senior/Account Managers with portfolio management, reporting, pipeline management, and networking with external business partners and internal departments.

Core Responsibilities

- Daily support the Special Loans Management team with ongoing management of active loans, including review and analysis of loan data and preparation of reporting requirements (40%).
- Prepare and review critical reports for Senior Management such as:
- Monthly provision, delinquency and arrears reports.
- Quarterly problem loan reports.
- Bi‑weekly Watchcall reports and minutes.
- Any ad‑hoc reports as required.

- Support the Commercial delinquency processes, performing due diligence, recommending arrangements, and executing plans for arrears or other breaches. Update all actions in the applicable system(s) (25%).
- Assist Account Managers or Senior Account Managers with execution and management of the problem loans portfolio, including collection of documents, due diligence, legal actions, data input, posting transactions, and preliminary analysis (25%).
- Support departmental projects and deliverables as set by management, including development of new reports, analysis, system and process testing,



functional audits, and compliance activity, pipeline development, or related tasks (10%).

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- 3+ years of experience in commercial banking or commercial mortgage lending.
- Understanding of mortgage enforcement remedies across Canada would be an asset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong time management, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Established organizational skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
- Self‑starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective negotiation skills, both oral and written.
- Business sense with sound knowledge of secured lending and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market.
- Proficient user of Microsoft tools.
- Knowledge of servicing procedures.
