About the Role Sheshegwaning First Nation is seeking a Student Monitoring & Academic Support Worker to provide proactive academic support and student success services by monitoring student attendance, academic progress, and overall engagement. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment while maintaining accurate records and ensuring confidentiality in all student interactions.
What You’ll Do
Track and monitor student data, including attendance, credit accumulation, and graduation progress.
Identify at-risk students and provide early interventions and regular follow-ups.
Support students transitioning from community school to high school.
Assist students moving from high school to post-secondary, training programs, or employment.
Collaborate with high school guidance staff to ensure students are on the right courses and on pathways that reflect their goals.
Encourage participation in extracurriculars such as sports, clubs,
and leadership opportunities.
Plan events and activities that promote engagement between families, the community, and the school board.
Provide guidance and a consistent, trusted adult presence throughout their high school journey.
What You Bring
Educational Background: High school diploma required; post-secondary education in social work, education, or a related field is preferred.
Awareness and appreciation of First Nations culture.
Valid Ontario driver’s license
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other administrative tools.
