Air Liquide is hiring for an Instrumentation and Control Technician. This position will be located at our Plant in Varennes, QC. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Instrumentation and Control Technician is responsible for maintaining all plant instrumentation and electrical equipment (control devices, PLCs, process computers, analyzers, transmitters, pneumatic devices, valves).
Responsibilities
- Support and comply with health, safety and environmental procedures as indicated by local and corporate HSE.
- Calibrate and test safety-critical systems, equipment protection and quality control components.
- Troubleshoot and replace faulty or failed instrumentation including actuators, controllers, solenoids, transmitters, switches, sensors and analyzers.
- Manage the Instrumentation Preventive Maintenance Work Order System and achieve 100% compliance.
- Order spare parts and components and maintain critical spare parts in stock for the plant.
- Work closely with contractors and monitor quality of work.
- Respond to evening and weekend service calls to ensure continuity of plant operations.
- Provide assistance to other locations within domain of expertise as required (approx. 20% of workload) with vehicle provided.
Qualifications
- Required:
AEC or DEP in industrial automation or DEC in Instrumentation and Controls; 4 to 6 years experience in an industrial plant and process environment.
- Experience in operation and maintenance of process, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred.
- Previous plant and/or industrial gas experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license; some overnight travel is required (limited).
Preferred Qualifications
- Highly organized with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, wiring diagrams and process schematics.
- Knowledge and experience of process analyzer maintenance and calibration.
- Ability to recognize, understand, analyze and solve technical problems.
- Working knowledge and experience of high/medium voltage electrical switchgear.
