Law Clerk – Immigration Law (Remote | Ontario)
Location: Remote (Ontario-based candidates only)

Position Type: Full time
We are a small, nimble boutique immigration law firm based in Toronto, led by a founder ranked among Canada’s top immigration lawyers. We are seeking an experienced Immigration Law Clerk to join our growing team.
This is a home-based position, open to candidates located anywhere in Ontario, offering meaningful work, excellent work-life balance, and the opportunity to be part of a highly respected practice.

Key Responsibilities
1. Case Preparation & Management
- Assist lawyers/authorized representatives with the preparation, organization, and submission of immigration applications, including:
- Work permits
- Visitor visas
- Permanent residence
- Citizenship applications
- Draft, review, and finalize forms, documents, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and compliance with Canadian immigration law
- Track, monitor, and manage application deadlines and supporting documentation
2. Client Interaction
- Communicate with clients via email, phone/video conferencing, and case management portals
- Collect and organize client information and documentation
- Provide timely, professional updates on case progress
- Respond to client inquiries with clarity and professionalism
3. Legal Research
- Conduct research on Canadian immigration laws, policies, and relevant case precedents as requested
- Stay informed of changes to immigration regulations and policies, with guidance from supervising counsel
4. Administrative Support
- Maintain well-organized electronic client files in compliance with confidentiality and data protection requirements
- Liaise with government bodies, including Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
- Schedule and return client calls as required
- Assist with the creation, maintenance, and updating of the firm’s precedent library
5. Compliance & Professional Standards
- Ensure all work complies with applicable Canadian legal frameworks and professional conduct standards
- Safeguard sensitive client information and adhere strictly to confidentiality protocols
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a law clerk in a Canadian immigration law firm
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian immigration processes and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary diploma
- The ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and escalate case issues to supervisor
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proofread documents, draft fluent prose, and avoid grammatical mistakes
- Excellent computer skills, 90+ wpm typing
- Self-starter, disciplined self-motivated work ethic
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (required)
- Visto AI / Officio experience is a strong asset
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple files independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
