Tech Talent International (SI) supplies technical talent to a variety of clients ranging from Fortune (phone hidden) companies to small and mid-sized organizations in Canada/US and Europe.

We currently have a role as a Windows Desktop Administrator with our large consulting client for a major banking services client in the downtown Montreal area. This role can either be a permanent role or a long term contract.

Role: Windows Desktop Administrator

Type: Contract 37.5 hrs/week

Location: Hybrid - Downtown Montreal, QC -(roles starts off 5 days in office for 1st 3 months, then turns into hybrid setup 3 days onsite, 2 days from home)

Contract: $80-$90/hr C2C (incorporated contractor)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Windows Desktop Administrator to join our End-User Computing (EUC) team. This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and optimization of enterprise desktop environments, including physical workstations, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and Citrix-based desktop delivery platforms.

The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical expertise while driving automation, application packaging, endpoint management, and desktop modernization initiatives. You will collaborate with global infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams to deliver a secure, reliable, and high-performing end-user computing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Desktop Administration

- Deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise Windows 10/11 desktop environments across physical and virtual endpoints.
- Administer and support enterprise desktop infrastructure to ensure high availability, stability, and performance.
- Monitor desktop health and proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact end users.
- Maintain desktop standards, documentation, and operational procedures.

Citrix & Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

- Administer and support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD / DaaS) environments.
- Manage:
- Citrix Workspace
- StoreFront
- Session management
- Published applications
- Profile optimization
- Design, administer, and optimize VDI platforms, including:
- Citrix DaaS
- VMware Horizon
- Equivalent virtualization technologies
- Maintain and manage enterprise golden desktop images.
- Improve VDI performance, scalability, and user experience.

Endpoint Management & Deployment

- Deploy and manage desktop operating systems using:




- Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM)
- Microsoft Intune
- Altiris
- Equivalent endpoint management platforms
- Manage desktop imaging and provisioning.
- Support operating system lifecycle management and desktop refresh initiatives.

Automation & Application Packaging

- Develop automation scripts using:
- PowerShell
- Python
- Equivalent scripting technologies
- Automate:
- Desktop provisioning
- Software deployment
- Patch management
- Administrative tasks
- Package and deploy enterprise applications using:
- MSIX
- App-V
- Flexera InstallShield
- Other enterprise packaging solutions

Active Directory & Group Policy

- Administer Active Directory objects related to desktop services, including:
- User accounts
- Computer objects
- Organizational Units (OUs)
- Security groups
- Manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce:
- Desktop configurations
- Security baselines
- User environment settings

Security & Compliance

- Execute endpoint patch management and security updates.
- Implement endpoint hardening and vulnerability remediation.
- Support access control and endpoint security initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory standards, and security best practices.

Collaboration

- Partner with:
- Network Engineering
- Server Infrastructure
- Security
- Application Support
- Global Infrastructure teams
- Participate in the design and evolution of the organization's End-User Computing (EUC) strategy.
- Recommend improvements to desktop, Citrix, and VDI platforms.
- Contribute to documentation, operational standards, and knowledge sharing.
- Support hardware, software licensing, and infrastructure planning activities.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 7–10+ years of enterprise Windows desktop administration experience.
- Experience supporting enterprise desktop environments within large, global organizations.




- Experience working in highly regulated industries is preferred.
