Director, Commercial Construction

SiteTalent | Vancouver, BC, Canada (On-site)

SiteTalent is partnering with a highly respected Vancouver-based general contractor to find a Director of Commercial Construction. Our client is a well-established and growing builder known for delivering major commercial and mixed-use projects across the Lower Mainland. They've built their reputation on transparency, accountability, and a team-first culture that values people as much as performance. This is a company where leadership means something - and where the right person will have a genuine seat at the table.

Summary

The Director of Commercial Construction is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of the company's commercial construction portfolio - from pursuit through to project closeout. Reporting directly to the President, you will lead a commercial division of approximately 50 people, with full accountability for people, performance, project execution, client relationships, and profitability.

This is not a senior project management role. It is a true business leadership position. You will own the numbers - P&L; accountability, margin protection, risk management - while driving executional excellence and consistency across all projects. You'll work closely with pre-construction, operations, and business development to ensure seamless handovers, high-performance teams, and best-in-class project outcomes delivered safely, on time, and on budget.

The company is scaling its commercial division and looking for a leader who listens first, earns trust, strengthens the team, and helps build what comes next. They're not looking for someone who shows up on day one with a binder and tries to rewrite the entire playbook. They want someone who is self-aware, commercially sharp, collaborative, and genuinely enjoyable to work with.

If you've been considering Vancouver - or you're already here - and you're ready for a career-defining leadership opportunity with a defined equity path and a real seat at the table, this is worth a conversation.

What You'll Do

Executive & Operations Leadership

- Lead the commercial construction division with full accountability for people, project performance, and profitability.
- Drive executional excellence by establishing consistent processes, clear expectations, and high-performance standards across all projects.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental protection across all projects and teams.
- Contribute to the company's strategic plan, advancing objectives around revenue, profitability, skill development,

- Develop, coach, and mentor employees across the organization, with specific attention to direct project teams and future leaders.
- Define key personnel and labour requirements and support the selection of top candidates alongside the People & Culture team.
- Oversee and manage project disputes and claims of significant value with support from project teams.
- Lead project close-outs and post-project debriefing sessions, implementing process improvements.

Construction Delivery

- Provide technical, project, and people leadership to project teams across the commercial portfolio.
- Oversee scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure key milestones are met throughout the project lifecycle.

- Robust P&L; acumen - can confidently walk through financials, protect margins, manage risk, and run a profitable division.
