What We're Looking For a Human Resources Generalist The H R Generalist supports the HR Business Partner (HRBP) in delivering a broad range of HR services to the Corporate Functions and Technology organizations at SMARDT. This role oversees day-to-day HR support and is heavily focused on staffing, employee experience, and other talent management responsibilities. This position ensures compliance and standardization across the client group and requires a strong focus on partnership, agility, and execution. What You'll Do: Recruitment & Talent Acquisition (20%) Manage the full recruitment cycle for Corporate Functions, including onboarding activities. Coordinate all orientation activities, including buddy programs and a 30-60-90-day approach to support company assimilation. Work closely with hiring managers to understand hiring needs, create job descriptions, and support career architecture evaluation. Deliver orientation sessions with a strong focus on employee experience, ensuring new hires have access to all necessary tools, information, and compliance training within their first week. Employee Services and Manager Support (20%) Serve as a point of contact for HR transactional inquiries. Provide guidance on policies, benefits, and compliance matters. Support the administration of talent management programs such as goal setting, 90-day evaluations, and the performance assessment process. HR Operations & Compliance (30%)
Maintain employee records and update the HRIS for hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, and status changes. Ensure all employee changes are communicated to payroll accurately and on time. Support compliance with Canadian employment regulations. Assist employees with benefits inquiries and enrollment processes. Coordinate and support employee offboarding activities, including exit documentation, system and equipment recovery, termination processing, and ensuring a smooth and compliant separation experience. Support employee leave administration and workplace accommodation processes, including coordinating documentation, liaising with internal stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with applicable employment standards and company policies. HR Projects & Program Support (30%) Support HRBP-led initiatives such as the Smardt Employee Engagement Survey, organizational changes, and other key HR initiatives. Support special projects involving policy creation, process improvements and People Leader Development What You'll Bring: Experience: 3 years of recruiting experience and 5 years of HR generalist experience, ideally supporting engineering and corporate functions workforces. Experience with full-cycle recruitment for professional entry- to mid-level positions Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Technical Skills: Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt quickly to changing business needs. Strong understanding of HR practices and employment regulations in Quebec. Excellent communication, professionalism, and relationship-building skills.
Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Proficiency in BambooHR, ADP, ATS platforms, and Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced skills. Ability to speak French with our team in Quebec if the candidate is located in Quebec.
