Role Description The Heating Air Conditioning Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Ladysmith, BC. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing residential and commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation equipment. Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostic tests, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing preventive maintenance, and documenting work performed. The mechanic will respond to service calls, ensure systems operate efficiently and safely, and follow all relevant codes, standards, and company procedures. This role also involves communicating clearly with customers,
explaining findings and recommendations, and providing a professional and respectful service experience.
Qualifications
Journeyman Refrigeration Technician / Class B Gas Fitter
- Strong HVAC technical skills, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
- Experience with maintenance, preventive maintenance, and maintenance & repair tasks to ensure reliable system performance.
- Customer service skills to interact professionally with clients, explain work performed, and address questions or concerns.
- Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship in HVAC or refrigeration (or progress toward certification) is preferred.
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and best practices for HVAC work.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and read technical drawings or schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for travel to customer sites.
- Capacity to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete tasks with attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks in varying weather conditions.
