Role Description

The Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Etobicoke, ON, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotes, and developing detailed cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipment. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, site supervisors, and procurement staff to clarify scope, identify cost-saving opportunities, and manage bid submissions and tender documents. The role also involves maintaining and updating unit costs, historical data, and pricing databases, as well as supporting contract negotiations and change order reviews. The Estimator contributes to risk assessment and ensures estimates align with project schedules, client requirements, and company standards.





Qualifications

- Strong skills in construction estimating, quantity take-offs, and cost analysis for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software and tools, spreadsheets, and digital take-off applications.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, building codes, materials, and trades coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including attention to detail and meeting tender deadlines.
- Post-secondary education in construction management, civil engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry is an asset.
