We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Human Resources Specialist.This position involves full-cycle recruitment, labour relations, training, accommodation, employee engagement initiatives, and performance management. The ideal candidate will bring integrity, strong interpersonal skills, and a service-oriented approach to fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deal with employee requests and inquiries regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of appropriate documentation throughout employment history of all employees.
- Maintain employees’ electronic and physical filing systems.
- Coordinate employee training, certification requirements, and workshops.
- Deliver training sessions for both hourly employees and management.
- Manage absenteeism reporting and case management for WSIB and STD/LTD claims.
- Oversee accommodation and return-to-work processes in compliance with legislation.
- Assist in preparing a report for the compliance assessment of the Federal Contractors Program.
- Develop and maintain policies, HR programs,
and ensure that actions are carried out in compliance with legislation and the corporate policy framework.
- Ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial employment legislation, as well as health and safety regulations.
- Work with HR Manager on system upgrades, testing, automation of manual processes, as well as continuous improvements and efficiencies.
- Track, maintain and record performance review forms.
- Support payroll and advantages function when required and coordinate year-end reports.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources; CHRP designation (or actively pursuing) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience in a unionized environment; manufacturing experience is an asset.
- At least 5 years of experience in labour relations investigations
- Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting full-cycle hourly and salaried recruitment
- 3+ years of experience managing WSIB and STD/LTD claims.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA).
- Experience leading employee engagement initiatives.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ADP and Synerion is an asset.
