Our client, a boutique firm in the tri-cities area, is seeking a full-time Family Lawyer to join its growing family law practice. This position offers a mix of stability, autonomy, and the opportunity to build a long-term family law practice within a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage a growing caseload of family law files with autonomy
- Provide strategic legal advice across a wide range of family matters
- Draft pleadings, agreements, and other required family law documents
- Conduct legal research to support case strategy
- Represent clients confidently in court, including chambers appearances
- Participate in negotiations, mediations, and dispute resolution processes
- Collaborate with a supportive team of lawyers, paralegals, and support staff
- Contribute to file growth through strong client service and personal practice development
Qualifications
- 5 years overall legal experience or minimum 3 years dedicated to family law
- Experience with chambers applications and some exposure to trials/hearings
- Robust advocacy, negotiation, and client management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, close-knit team
- Knowledge of BC family law legislation, rules, and court procedures
- Active membership in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia
- A book of business is an asset, but not required
