Job Overview
An Ontario Driver Examiner evaluates applicants' driving ability at various licence levels, provides road test grades, licensing information, resolves licensing issues, and offers guidance on driver examination services. The role ensures that examinations are fair and conducted in a supportive environment for candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service during all Driver Examination Services.
- Responds to inquiries related to driver licensing, determines applicant status, and provides information regarding test/re‑test procedures and licence classes.
- Verifies candidate information including full name and full date of birth.
- Examines applicants through a road test to assess mechanics, handling, compliance with traffic laws, stressful situations, and safe driving practices.
- Reports examination results and details errors and areas requiring improvement.
- Completes evaluation forms for road test assessments.
- Attends travel points to provide testing and licensing services when applicable.
- If conducting M2, M and controlled class tests, observes riding habits, skill and demonstrated ability in vehicle operation.
- Conducts road test for candidates with special needs or disabilities.
- Complies with all regulations, policies and procedures, including occupational health and safety, environmental, drug and alcohol, and quality policies.
- Adheres to Ministry and operational confidentiality requirements.
- Performs related duties as may be required.
Job Requirements
Education / Certifications
- GED or high school diploma.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence.
- At least four years of driving experience verified by “date first licenced” on the Ontario driver’s licence.
- Valid Class M and/or controlled class driver’s licence, if applicable.
- No more than four demerit points and three violations at all times.
Knowledge and Experience
- Knowledge of the DriveTest program, related legislation, regulations and policies is preferred.
- Intermediate level computer skills.
- Two (2) years of experience providing excellent customer service.

- Knowledge of applicable sections of the Highway Traffic Act and related policies.

Other Responsibilities
- Comply with Serco Canada Inc. policies and procedures.
- Perform other tasks assigned by management, including special projects.
- Participate in required security measures, testing, and training.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to disagreeable elements, minor risk of injury, and weather‑related conditions.
