Job Summary

Missy's Diner is a busy, family-owned restaurant located inside Mira Ferry Market in rural Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, homemade pizza, and daily specials seven days a week while providing friendly service to both local residents and visitors.

Job Duties
Prepare and cook complete meals from the menu
Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner items
Prepare homemade pizza and daily specials
Ensure food quality and presentation standards are met
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
Assist with inventory and stock rotation
Keep kitchen clean and organized
Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Train kitchen helpers when required
Assist with opening and closing duties

Requirements
Completion of secondary school
Previous commercial cooking experience is an asset
Food Safety Certification is an asset
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Reliable transportation
Robust teamwork and communication skills

Collaborate with team members to ensure consistency and quality in every dish served
Support the overall cleanliness of the kitchen, including equipment maintenance and waste disposal

Requirements
Previous food service or restaurant experience preferred; familiarity with kitchen operations is a plus
Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food safety standards
Ability to stand for extended periods and work efficiently in a high-energy environment
Solid understanding of serving protocols and customer service principles
Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene in the kitchen
Willingness to learn new skills and adapt quickly to changing priorities within the kitchen setting

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
