CADC’s Chief Executive Officer is the highest-ranking executive in the organization and is responsible for providing strategic, operational, financial, and values-based leadership. Responsibilities include making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of the organization, supporting effective Board governance, overseeing risk and compliance, acting as the main point of communication between the Board of Directors and corporate operations, and representing the organization to shareholders, partners, government, community stakeholders, and the general public.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is accountable to the Board of Directors for three key objectives:
· To advise and support the Board of Directors in setting policy, making informed decisions, and carrying out effective governance;
· To lead the affairs of CADC in accordance with applicable legislation, by-laws, policies, and Board of Directors’ direction; and
· To initiate, oversee, and manage operations, projects, organizational risk, and resources to meet CADC’s mission and strategic goals.
CADC’s CEO is a dynamic leader who promotes integrity, accountability, sound governance, and organizational sustainability. They exhibit exceptional business acumen, sound judgment, and excellent communication skills in all aspects of the role.
JOB DUTIES
Leadership and Management
· Provide leadership to the Chair, Executive and Board of Directors (Board) on the daily activities of CADC to meet the strategic goals identified by the Board
· Develop and implement business strategic direction, budgets, marketing plans, capital investment plans, and capital maintenance/improvement strategies for Board approval
· Provide support and direction to the Board in strategic planning and policy development initiatives,
including the identification of alternatives for the Board’s consideration
· Prepare draft policy statements for the Board’s consideration and submit program, budget, or project plans for Board’s consideration
· Act as a resource to Board Committees
· Support strong governance practices by ensuring the Board receives timely, accurate, and relevant information to fulfill its oversight responsibilities
Performance Management
· Provide regular financial, operations, and project status reports to the Board detailing activities, progress, and other pertinent issues
· Identify, monitor, and report on organizational risks, compliance obligations, and operational issues that may affect CADC’s performance, reputation, or sustainability
· Manage and direct all business activities and operations through the staff of CADC
· Manage the performance of direct reports and ensure all CADC staff receive appropriate and timely performance management
· Ensure development of resources and training to support employees’ productivity and objectives
· Promote effective use of technology, data, and digital tools to support operational efficiency, reporting, and informed decision-making
Relationship Building
· Build relationships with CADC shareholders, all three levels of government, and community stakeholders
· Represent and market CADC in the areas of regional economic development and infrastructure development
· Act as CADC’s official spokesperson on public relations issues as directed by the Board Chair
Project Management
· Coordinate and manage the implementation of development projects in terms of relationship management, project oversight, project delivery, and achievement of project objectives
JOB REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; graduate degree or equivalent senior leadership experience considered an asset
· Minimum of ten years’ experience in a senior management position(s) directing a wide range of accountabilities, including corporate management, strategic planning and visioning, marketing and business development, negotiation
· In-depth understanding of accounting principles including balance sheets, budgeting, capital planning management, cash flow, and income statements
· Senior management experience with board governance
· Significant experience managing staff, providing values-based leadership, and building and motivating high-performing teams
