We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sawmill Trimmer Operator to join our team.
Duties
Examine rough lumber to determine size, condition, quality and other characteristics to decide best lumber cuts to carry out
Use automated equipment to convey rough wood and determine the most productive and profitable cutting patterns
Operate trimmer equipment from control station to saw rough lumber
Saw and trim rough lumber into dimensional lumber of various sizes
Start conveyor system to move lumber to and from saws
Set up and adjust saw equipment and replace blades or bands using wrenches, gauges and other hand tools
Operate equipment to sort and stack lumber by length and thickness, move stacks to storage areas or drying kilns
Clean and lubricate sawmill equipment
Performs all other related duties in accordance with established safety procedures.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal operation
Collaborate with team members in a fast-paced manufacturing workplace to meet production goals
Follow detailed instructions from supervisors regarding quality standards and safety procedures
Qualifications
2 years' experience is preferred and considered an asset
High school diploma or GED required
Valid driver's license and vehicle to get to work is required
Work under minimal supervision
Must be a team-player; team building and creating new worker/client relations
Proficiency in mill equipment diagnosis and repair considered an asset
Must be able to work safely while operating mill equipment and follow safety guidelines at all times
