Nanaimo Foodshare is seeking an enthusiastic School Garden Facilitator to lead hands-on outdoor learning experiences for students. Inspire kids to explore gardening, food systems, and nature while building food literacy and environmental awareness.
This short term position is available from mid-March to the end of the school year, mid-June. Approximately 10 - 24 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead hands-onengaging, age-appropriate garden lessons and activities related to gardening, food systems, and seasonal growing
Plant, harvest, and maintain school gardens
Create a safe, inclusive, and fun outdoor learning setting
Collaborate with teachers and program staff
Adapt activities to different ages, abilities, and learning styles
Model curiosity, respect for land, and positive leadership with students
Qualifications
Passion for food gardening, environmental education, or outdoor learning
Experience working with children or youth (education, camps, outdoor programs, or community programs)
Gardening knowledge and comfort working outdoors in all weather
Strong communication and group facilitation skills
Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
Google Drive experience is an asset
Requirements
