Inspection of castings to ensure that they conform to customer requirements and performs shipping duties including packaging and carrier co-ordination.
Typical Duties:
Controls documents associated with product shipping and inspection - maintains files and records as required.
Receives instructions (written and verbal) from supervisor, lead hand and on occasion, from metallurgist, foundry engineer or QA engineer.
Receives drawings with order specs and returns to appropriate file location.
Inspects castings dimensionally, visually and non-destructively.
Records inspections as directed by the QA engineer and as specified in ISO flowcharts fills-in controlled inspection forms and files under appropriate software location from computer in the Shipping/ Cleaning Room office.
Notifies QA engineer of defective items requiring determination as either scrap, rework or repair.
Performs hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing of castings as required.
Performs non-destructive tests using ultra-sonic, magnetic particle or liquid penetrant equipment.
Certify casting inspection jigs and log for future certification and tracing.
Build crates and pallets for shipping
Collect shipping manifests from production control as required.
Completes shipping manifest and bill of lading documentation when shipments are completed and ensures related documentation is accurate and delivered to admin assistant.
Checks count numbers for all materials being shipped.
Transports products from other departments to shipping when required.
Performs packaging, weighing, tagging, labelling, strapping and palletizing as required.
Weighs transport trucks both upon entry and exit from Wabi property as required.
Perform minor cosmetic work on products being shipped involving painting, labelling packaging protection, and light repairs as required.
Arranges for and/or operates mobile equipment intended to facilitate loading, unloading or positioning of products provided that orientation training has been provided.
Completes equipment checklists.
Completes positive housekeeping practice - keeps work area neat.
Works safely in compliance with OHSA requirements and in compliance with company policies.
