In this essential position, you will work under the Principal’s direction to assist school-aged children with various exceptionalities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities. Your collaboration with educators and skilled staff will help modify programs and deliver tailored support, including academic and physical assistance. Experience with assistive technologies and ongoing flexibility is crucial for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental needs • Participate in academic and special programs for diverse learners • Implement physiotherapy exercises and monitor student progress • Assist with toileting, yard duties, and other personal care needs • Maintain confidentiality and adapt to the dynamic school environment
Requirements: • College diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care, or equivalent • 1-2 years of experience with special needs students • Valid First Aid/CPR certification is preferred • Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and assistive technology • Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and behavior management training
