Core Purpose and Essence of the Position:
The Material Handler is responsible for moving and storing materials or products with the use of Material Handling Equipment [MHE] (Reach, Order Selector, Counterbalance (sit/standup), Walkie) within the warehouse in safe and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations
Operates industrial vehicles such as sit-down and stand-up forklifts, reach trucks,
order picker and automated pallet jacks as per the business requirement
Proficiently loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages products using a forklift truck
Move product to storage locations upon completion of receiving and safely and efficiently stacks product in appropriate storage locations
Utilizes radio frequency (RF) scanning equipment to put away and pick inventory for traceability
Shrink wraps goods or otherwise secures and prepares them for transport
Picks product from storage locations using the RF and MHE to Shipping area as per process
Ensure that stacking of pallets/product is done safely and in an organized manner
Keep aisles and staging areas clear of product once processed
Operate in narrow aisles with general warehouse associates walking nearby
Perform housekeeping and 5S duties
Assist in cycle count and physical inventories.
Safety
Inspect and perform daily maintenance on assigned forklift trucks
Maintain equipment as per checklist and retain appropriate forklift records
Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following OHSA standards
Report safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediatelyFollows safety regulations and company guidelines.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Communication skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Computer Skills
Knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management System)
Other
Attention to detail
Ability to perform basic math
Excellent time management and organization skills.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum high school diploma required.
1 to 3 years of experience in a warehouse environment
Must possess a valid certified Forklift license for Sit-down/counterbalance, Reach and Cherry Picker (Order Selector), Dock Stocker, Forklift Clamp and Electric Pallet Jack.
Basic working knowledge on computers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position may require extended periods of standing and walking for up to 90% of the time. Capable to heavy lift, up to 50 pounds.
