We are seeking a licensed Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations in an acute care hospital setting in Smithers, BC. In this role, you will ensure accurate medication preparation, distribution, and compliance while working closely with pharmacists and healthcare teams.
Prepare, compound, package, and label medications as per regulatory standards
Perform independent double-checks for accuracy (drug, dose, route, patient)
Conduct sterile and hazardous compounding following safety guidelines
Maintain accurate records in pharmacy systems (Cerner, WinRx)
Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, infection control, and safety standards
Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare teams to support patient care
Manage inventory and assist with daily pharmacy operations
Qualifications (British Columbia Standards)
Licensed Pharmacy Technician in good standing with CPBC (College of Pharmacists of BC)
Diploma from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
Experience with Cerner / WinRx preferred
Certification/experience in sterile and hazardous compounding
Previous hospital or acute care experience preferred
Strong knowledge of medication safety, aseptic technique, and quality standards
Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Location: Smithers, BC (Acute Care Hospital)
Schedule: Full-time (80 hours biweekly; shifts as per facility)
Pay Rate: CAD $25 - $34 per hour
