Description

Are you passionate about driving safety, quality, and continuous improvement? As an HSE Process & Quality Specialist, you will play a key role in strengthening our Health, Safety, and Environment management system by developing, maintaining, and enhancing HSE standards, procedures, work instructions, and guidance materials. PPartnering with HSE subject matter experts, business stakeholders, and governance teams, you will ensure documentation is clear, effective, and aligned with regulatory, corporate, and management system requirements.

You will also coordinate and track quality issues, findings, and corrective actions, helping to improve compliance, consistency, and operational excellence across the organization. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and detail-oriented professional who enjoys transforming complex requirements into practical solutions that support a strong safety culture and drive meaningful organizational improvement.

Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and improve HSE standards, procedures, work instructions, guidelines, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with HSE, Quality, and operational stakeholders to ensure processes are effective, compliant, and aligned with business needs.
- Support the implementation and change management of new or updated HSE processes through communication, training, and stakeholder engagement.
- Track and coordinate HSE quality issues, audit findings, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze trends and support root cause investigations to identify opportunities for process enhancement and risk reduction.
- Monitor HSE quality metrics and prepare reports, management review inputs, and governance updates.




- Ensure HSE documentation aligns with regulatory requirements, management system standards, and audit expectations.
- Participate in governance activities and cross-functional initiatives to strengthen HSE performance, compliance, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

- Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Quality, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Combination of formal education and relevant HSE or quality systems experience will be considered.

- 4+ years of demonstrated experience in change management and/or health and safety roles.
- Formal training in management systems, quality, or process improvement (e.g., ISO‑based systems) is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, standardize, and maintain HSE process documentation within a controlled management system environment.
- Working knowledge of HSE management systems, including document control, audit processes, and quality/continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong written and technical communication skills with the ability to translate complex HSE and regulatory requirements into clear, user-friendly documentation.
- Robust collaboration skills to engage subject matter experts and build alignment across functional teams.
- Ability to analyze complex information, synthesize input from multiple stakeholders, and produce clear, structured outputs.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
