In this role, you will:
- Support the development of project scopes, engineering plans, and cost estimates to assist with project planning and business case development throughout the asset life cycle.
- Perform structural analysis and design and collaborate with structural and architectural designers to develop and review 3D models and 2D drawings, ensuring accuracy and completeness of construction details.
- Prepare and update technical specifications, scopes of work, bills of materials (BOMs), material take-offs (MTOs), and construction work packages to support project execution.
- Review technical memoranda, engineering assessments, and structural condition reports to support operational and project requirements.
- Conduct inspections of existing facilities for condition assessment and site visits for structural projects to verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, design requirements, and safety expectations.
- Contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams by providing sound technical input and feedback, managing assigned work with supervision, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, specializing in structural engineering;
- two to six years of relevant work experience in projects related to mining and milling;
- eligible for registration with the Association of Skilled Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO);
- working towards registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng);
- intermittent travel to Cameco’s northern Saskatchewan and/or Ontario sites by aircraft; and class 5 driver’s license.
Recommended
- knowledge of applicable codes (NBCC, NFCC), standards (CSA S16, CSA A23.3, CSA A23.4, and CSA O86) and regulations (SK Mines Regulations);
- proficient in performing structural analysis and design using STAAD. Pro software as well as developing design calculations with Mathcad software and Microsoft Excel;
- experience of structural design of steel, concrete and wooden structures in accordance with applicable CSA standards; and
working knowledge of 3D model review software such as Navisworks and use of point cloud data for model verification and clash detection.
