Responsibilities And Duties The Homelessness, Addiction, Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub Whitby aims to address the complex and intersecting needs of individuals in Durham Region experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges. HART Hub Whitby, in partnership with Durham Community Health Centre will serve as a centralized, low-barrier access point for integrated services that promote recovery, housing stability, and long-term wellness.

The Addiction Counsellor 3 will function as part of the Intensive Day Residential Treatment Program within the HART Hub Whitby initiative and support to other HART Hub locations, as a senior clinical role providing leadership in the provision of individual and group psychotherapy/ counselling services, assessment, discharge panning, medication support, outreach services, clinical consultation, as well as program development and analysis activities within the intensive treatment program for clients experiencing co-occurring significant substance use concerns and homelessness. Close collaboration with colleagues and community partners is an essential component of this position.

Qualifications

- Masters Degree in Social Sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Counselling);
- Registration with professional college, as regulated;




- 3-5 years experience in provision of group and individual psychotherapy/counselling services using a variety of modalities including psychoeducational and process-oriented with clients experiencing substance use concerns;
- Demonstrated experience in assessment, referral and case management with people experiencing substance use concerns and homelessness;
- Sound knowledge of housing and homelessness concerns;
- Sound knowledge of current models of addiction treatment and best practices
- Experience with providing treatment to concurrent disorders population;
- Proven excellent knowledge of theories of addiction, evidence-based and recovery-focused treatment models, pharmacology, withdrawal management, concurrent disorders/issues, crisis intervention, and special client populations;
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in working with key-issues and providing specialized services to individuals with more complex concerns and specialized needs such as the homeless, physical health issues, family issues, women, adolescents, transitional youth, LGBTTQ, aboriginal peoples, and the elderly;
- Demonstrated commitment to client-focused and strength-based philosophy of care;
- Proven exceptional interpersonal communication and organizational skills;
- Proven ability in community development and capacity building with community partners for example with off-site community-based services, school boards and mental health systems;
- Proven ability to work closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team, and independently in a manner consistent with high professional standards;
- Demonstrated confidence and experience in applying therapeutic principles to practice;
- Demonstrated experience in program development and analysis;
- Exceptional experience in providing leadership and demonstrated engagement in numerous activities including clinical consultation; exceptional presentation skills and delivery of qualified trainings and facilitating workshops;
- Sound knowledge and application of research designs, implementation and data analysis;




- Demonstrated ability to recognize and diffuse escalating or potentially violent clients;
- Exceptional knowledge of community resources and provincial communities of practice;
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions in this area;
- Proven good performance record and ability of maintaining this same standard;
- Willingness to be clinically supervised and pursue ongoing professional development;
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team;
