Together, our teams support projects across Southern Ontario, including road construction and rehabilitation, asphalt and aggregate supply, ready-mix concrete, specialty concrete solutions, trenchless infrastructure services, highway maintenance, traffic services, and other specialized construction operations. Our work supports provincial, municipal, commercial, institutional, and private sector clients while maintaining the safety, quality, and reliability that Steed and Evans is known for.



We are currently looking for a qualified 310T Truck and Coach Mechanic Technician to join our team.

Our Fleet Services team plays a critical role in supporting all areas of the organization by maintaining the trucks, heavy equipment, and specialized vehicles that keep our operations moving safely and efficiently. This position provides an chance to work on a diverse range of equipment while supporting the many divisions and operations that make up Steed and Evans.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Inspect equipment for defects, wear, and malfunctions.
- Diagnose malfunctions or faults using computerized diagnostic equipment and other testing equipment to determine required repairs.
- Repair and replace defective parts, components, and systems.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of light and heavy trucks, construction equipment, snowplows, salters, and specialized fleet equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Apply strong diagnostic skills to identify equipment issues and determine effective repair solutions.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications and operational requirements.
- Operate hoisting and lifting equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with Steed and Evans safety standards.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

Hours of Work

- Regular hours: Monday to Friday 6:30 am – 5 pm.
- Summer hours (4 week rotation):



Monday to Friday 6:30am – 5pm (3 weeks), Monday to Thursday 8am – 8pm (1 week).
- Winter hours – regular hours plus on-call for winter truck repairs.

Qualifications and Skills

- 310T Truck and Coach Technician License required.
- Valid Class G driver’s license required.
- 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician License or other related technical training is considered an asset.
- 310S Automotive Technician License or other related technical training is considered an asset.
- Heavy truck and equipment mobile repair experience is considered an asset.
- Possess comprehensive working knowledge of the repair, maintenance, and operation of:
- Light and heavy trucks
- Construction equipment
- Snow plows and winter maintenance equipment
- Salters and related equipment
- Electronic control devices
- Fuel systems
- Brake systems
- Tires
- Suspension and alignment systems
- Emissions systems
- Air conditioning systems
- Hydraulic and electrical systems
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to supply your own complement of quality and safe mechanic’s hand tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand and read a variety of measuring tools.
