Title: Accounting Administrator
Location: 220 John Street, Barrie, Ontario (Hybrid)
Shift time: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Job Summary The Accounting Administrator is responsible for supporting the Accounts Receivable function by ensuring the timely and accurate processing of customer transactions, cash applications, reconciliations, and collections activities. This position plays a key role in the month-end and year-end closing processes by maintaining accurate financial records, meeting critical deadlines, resolving discrepancies, and supporting audit requirements. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and post customer invoices, credit notes, and cash receipts in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ensuring accuracy of customer information, pricing, taxes, and GL coding.
- Perform daily cash application activities and investigate unapplied or unidentified payments.
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner to maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
- Monitor customer aging reports and assist with collection activities and follow-up on overdue accounts.
- Support the preparation of month-end journal entries and ensure all AR-related transactions are completed by established deadlines.
- Complete intercompany accounting transactions and reconciliations in accordance with company policies
- Respond professionally and promptly to inquiries from customers, vendors, and internal departments.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and account analysis.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls within the Accounts Receivable function.
Qualifications
- College certificate / diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of Accounts Receivable experience, or general accounting experience.
- Experience with account reconciliations, cash applications, collections, and month-end closing activities.
Job Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with general accounting software; MS Dynamics 365 Business Central and integrated subsystems is an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and organization.
- The ability to communicate professionally and clearly with employees, management, and customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment; ability to meet month-end close deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
