AP Electric (CGL) Inc. is a growing electrical contractor specializing in data centre construction. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking an experienced Accounting & Project Controller to join our team in our High Plains Industrial Area office.

This role is ideal for an experienced accounting qualified who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment and takes pride in accuracy, organization, and supporting successful project delivery.

Position Summary The Accounting & Project Controller is responsible for managing the company's day-to-day accounting functions while supporting project financial performance. Working closely with operations, project managers, payroll, and senior leadership, this position ensures accurate financial reporting, effective cash flow management, and reliable project cost tracking.

Responsibilities

· Process and oversee payroll using Payworks.

· Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.

· Perform monthly bank reconciliations.

· Prepare and file GST and PST returns.

· Monitor cash flow and assist with forecasting.

· Monitor and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports.

· Track project costs and prepare project financial reports.

· Support month-end and year-end closing activities.

· Prepare year-end working papers and financial reports for external accountants.

· Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with company policies.

· Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to provide timely and accurate financial information.

Qualifications





- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience processing payroll using Payworks or a similar payroll system.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and GST/PST reporting.
- Experience with project accounting and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with construction accounting and project management software is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
