Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Degree Senior $37.272 to $45.575

Travel Required: No

: Working collaboratively with managers to develop a positive, secure and cohesive atmosphere within workplace. Supports program development, evaluation and collection of data to inform program development. Establish positive relationships with other community organizations and services, providing leadership role. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education

- Bachelor of Chemical Dependency
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Experience

- 3 years experience working with mental health and addictions

Knowledge & Abilities

- Ability to manage a high demand caseload and other work assignments.
- Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
- Ability to accurately assess addictions and make appropriate recovery plans
- Knowledge of assessment, triage, treatment and case management.
- Knowledge of intervention strategies for indiv. w/ Mental health problems
- Provide public education regarding child and adolescent mental health concerns
- Ability to document in a concise and timely manner
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of impacts on MH&AS; access.
- Knowledge of normal child & adolescent development & psychopathology
- Ability to formulate evidence-based intervention based on clinical presentation
- Ability to design, initiate and conduct in service training for others.




- Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation
- Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems
- Knowledge in diverse cultures, values and traditions
- Can function independently & as member of interdisciplinary mental health team

- Can work flexible hours; ability to work shifts based on operational needs.
