We support the University’s mission by assisting students, staff and faculty through a variety of departments, including Admissions, Recruitment and Transfer Credit, the Office of the Registrar (Awards, Academic Scheduling & Curriculum, Records, Registration and Financial Aid), Student Success and Learning (Academic Advising, Student Community Standards, Student Experience, Student Learning Services), Access and Inclusion Services, Career Services, Wellness Services, Cougars Athletics and Recreation, the Iniskim Centre, International Education, Residence Services, Student Systems and Student Communications.

About The Role Reporting to the Manager, Admissions, the Admissions and Credential Specialist, International, is responsible for researching and evaluating official international high school and post-secondary documents for admission to all undergraduate and designated programs, as well as evaluating documents to determine whether the English Language Proficiency requirement has been met. This includes, but is not limited to, accurate tracking and evaluation of academic documents; requesting or researching missing information or documentation; accurate data entry of equivalencies; and meeting with internationally educated students to discuss their evaluation, as required. Also involved is remaining up to date on new developments regarding the evaluation of international documents within the post-secondary system (provincially, nationally and internationally) and working with other institutions and organizations to ensure appropriate and current benchmarks are being used in the evaluation process.

The incumbent will also be required to complete the admission assessment for international students for all undergraduate and designated programs. This includes, but is not limited to, accurate and timely data entry of applications, accurate tracking, and evaluation of academic documents, letter generation, running and processing error reports, determining the admissibility of applicants based on published admission criteria, and monitoring quota spaces within each program to ensure enrolment targets are met. This is a full-time limited-term position commencing on September 1, 2026, and ending on October 29, 2027, working 35 hours per week.





Responsibilities Receive and track international documentation for admission to all undergraduate and designated programs, including high school and post-secondary transcripts and all other supporting documents required for admission.

Complete document assessment using industry-standard practices, knowledge of MRU admission requirements, and relevant MRU policy.

Ensure accurate and timely data entry of the evaluation of the academic documents, including high school and post-secondary transcripts for use in the decision-making process.

Liaise with Admissions and Recruitment Specialists and Academic Advisors with necessary details or explanations about the status of the applicant's evaluation to be used in communication with prospective students.

Become familiar with grading systems in other countries, create documentation and provide training on common grading systems to other staff within enrolment services as appropriate.

Work closely with the Transfer Articulation unit regarding the evaluation of international documentation related to the transfer equivalency assessment process and to continue to build the database for international post-secondary institution codes.

Build and maintain effective relationships with representatives at other institutions in the province or country to collaborate on unique international assessments.

Maintain in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of admission requirements for each program, recognizing that change may occur on an annual basis.

Monitor the English Language Proficiency requirement for students whose first language is not English and according to the MRU English Language Proficiency requirement.

Run reports, record and monitor documentation such as courses in progress, final grades, disqualification status, English Proficiency Requirement, and GPA calculations for applicants.

Communicate with prospective students and applicants/influencers (in-person, by email or telephone) to provide feedback on and explanation of the evaluation of the international documents.

Qualifications Three- or Four-Year Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution.

Understanding the post-secondary environment.

Critical thinking, problem-solving.

Extensive research skills to determine the accreditation of institutions and to evaluate courses accurately.

Excellent organizational ability.

Knowledge of post-secondary environment and ability to assist post-secondary students.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and employ excellent judgment.

Accountability for a high degree of accuracy.

Experience in the area of admissions in a post-secondary institution.

Experience with evaluation of international documents.

Cultural sensitivity.

Strong computer skills with data entry and keyboarding accuracy;

experience with Banner Student Information System is an asset.
