The After-School Integration Support Worker assists in implementing a support program to facilitate the integration of afterschool childcare participants (ages 3-12) with exceptionalities requiring one on one or low ratio support.
Reports to the Childcare Management Team and occasionally the Director of Recreation
Pay Rate: $22.50 / hour starting
Part-time, 15 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Hours: 3:00 - 6:00pm daily
(Additional hours may be required for P.A. Day and Holiday Break Camps - up to 40 hours per week)
Full day training, Sunday, September 13 (Required)
Proposed start date: September 1, 2026
End Date: June 25, 2027
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative:
- Develop and document individual support plans for children identified as requiring additional support
- Ensure all integration support documentation is kept up to date in a secure location, and ensure relevant information is communicated to program staff
- Maintain ongoing documentation regarding communication with families
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training sessions
Program:
- Assist with and supervise, in a hands-on capacity, the active participation and involvement in program activities of participants with exceptionalities.
- Ensure and promote the well-being, dignity, development and independence of children and youth with exceptionalities in GNAG’s after-school program.
- Develop individualized support plans for participants in need, and work with other program staff to execute said plans.
- Ensure a secure and positive experience for participants and staff.
- Institute appropriate program adaptations/modifications that ensure inclusion of all participants of all abilities.
- Liaise with guardians of participants to develop a child-focused approach to care.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Past experience working with children in a camp or childcare setting
- Experience in teaching and/or recreation, and working with children and youth with exceptionalities
- Crisis Prevention Intervention and Alternate Communication Systems training an asset
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Vulnerable Sector Check (If over 18 years of age)
- AODA Certification
- WHMIS Training
