Shooting Stars Daycare is looking for an energetic, caring, and passionate educator to join our team!

This position primarily supports school-aged children (5–12 years) in our after-school program, with occasional opportunities to work with children ages 2–5.

The successful candidate must be comfortable and willing to work with children with disabilities and diverse support needs. Previous experience working with children with disabilities is an asset, but we are also looking for someone who is compassionate, patient, open to learning, and committed to providing inclusive support.

We are looking for someone who is responsible, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting children’s development in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with children of all abilities and passionate about creating a positive experience where every child feels supported, included, and valued.

Position Details

- Job TyPpe: Part-Time, Permanent
- Hours: Approximately 18–30 hours per week
- Additional Hours: Opportunities to cover sick leave and vacations
- Typical Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1:45 PM–5:30 PM Start time may be flexible
- PD & Snow Days: Full-day shifts may be available
- Summer: Additional hours available during the summer months
- Operating Hours: Shifts may be scheduled between 6:45 AM–5:30 PM, with a maximum of 9 hours per day
- Evenings & Weekends: No evenings or weekends
- Start Date: Flexible / As soon as possible
- Wage: $17.12 - $27.79 per hour, depending on education and qualifications
- Minimum Age:

Responsibilities

- Ensure the care, safety, and well-being of children at all times
- Plan, organize, and support engaging, age-appropriate activities
- Provide inclusive support to children of all abilities
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and positive environment
- Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental needs
- Complete required paperwork and documentation
- Assist with light housekeeping and maintaining a clean environment
- Work collaboratively with other educators and daycare staff

Required Qualifications The following must be obtained prior to employment:

- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- SD Record Check (completed as part of the interview process)
- Current Workplace Standard First Aid & CPR

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

- Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree
- NB Curriculum Framework Certificate
- Food Handler Certification
- Inclusion Training
- Previous experience working with children
- Bilingual English/French language skills
