Overview
This paid position offers a unique opportunity to research and catalogue a private collection.
Responsibilities
- Manage database containing collection records, ensuring metadata is complete, accurate, and up-to-date for easy retrieval and analysis
- Support the organization and cataloging of collections, including handling artifacts or artworks with care and precision
- Write transparent and compelling interpretive texts for displays, catalogs, or online content that communicate complex ideas effectively
- Research value of individual pieces.
- Prepare the collection for sale.
- Must be able to work on your own.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience working with databases and managing metadata related to collections or archives
- Strong research skills with the ability to analyze sources critically and synthesize information effectively
- Prior experience in a museum, gallery, library, or similar cultural institution is preferred but not required; relevant internships are welcome
- Previous experience handling and cleaning artwork
- Previous experience researching values.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
