Position: Database Architect (Azure Cloud Migration)

We are seeking a Principal Database Architect with deep expertise in Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI) to define enterprise database strategies and lead cloud transformation initiatives.

In this role, you will make critical architectural decisions on platform selection ( Azure PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc. ), mapping out complex tradeoffs and designing comprehensive migration roadmaps from on-premises SQL Server and Oracle environments . You will drive high-impact modernization initiatives from monolithic applications to microservices, establishing enterprise-grade standards for

HA/DR, performance tuning, security, and cloud governance while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

- Architect Cloud Platforms: Design and deploy enterprise-scale database environments leveraging Azure SQL Database and SQL Managed Instance.
- Evaluate Structural Tradeoffs: Provide expert guidance on target database selection based on cost, scale, availability, and application performance constraints.
- Lead Database Modernization: Drive structural refactoring from legacy, monolithic application databases into microservices and cloud-native data stores.
- Execute Migration Roadmaps: Blueprint and execute complex rehost, replatform,



and refactor strategies from on-premises SQL Server and Oracle infrastructure to Azure.
- Optimize Query Performance: Conduct deep-dive T-SQL code reviews, database performance tuning, index optimization, and structural database design.
- Establish HA/DR Standards: Define and configure High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup paradigms, and Always On availability groups.
- Enforce Cloud Governance: Implement robust Azure networking, security protocols, identity management (IAM), and compliance frameworks.
- Drive Technical Leadership: Lead architecture review boards, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate with core application and infrastructure architects.

Required Skills:

- Primary: Database Architecture, Cloud Migration Strategy (Rehost/Replatform/Refactor), Data Modeling, Database Modernization, Multi-Tenant Database Design.
- Tools/Frameworks: Azure Database Migration Service (DMS), Always on Availability Groups, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Database/Cloud: Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI), SQL Server Administration, Azure PostgreSQL, Oracle Database.
- Nice-to-Have: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Database Administrator Associate, Agile/DevOps practices, ERP/CRM backend migration
