In this role, you will select, plan and execute capital programs and projects, including construction, landscape construction and other projects for Parks and Open Spaces, typically focused on lifecycle or upgrade of existing assets. You will be responsible for project management, construction coordination and construction inspections, financial oversight and review, and project administration. Primary duties include:

- Liaise with consultants, contractors, ward representatives, legal, and City business units to administer project-related services.
- Engage consultants, architects, engineers, and SMEs for conceptual drawings and specifications.
- Provide project, regulatory, and specification guidance to consultants, contractors, and other City business units.
- Stage gate projects, prepare budget estimates, review final detailed design, obtain all permits/approvals, complete procurement plan, adhere to procurement governance framework,



trade agreements, City of Calgary policies, and complete/execute RFSOs, SORs, RFPs, and RFQs.
- Provide on-site construction direction and field fit solutions. Oversee daily construction activity to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Write business cases/charters, collect asset condition ratings, and perform asset inspections. Conduct site evaluations.
- Secure consultants for select Parks projects. Coordinate the preparation of construction drawings and technical specifications, lead project meetings, analyze project performance.
- Provide on-site construction direction and field fit solutions. Oversee daily construction activity to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Use project management software to track projects, timelines, and costs.
- Document, report, and present finding with interest holders.

Qualifications

- A completed 2 year diploma or technical certificate in landscape horticulture, construction project management, Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in the landscape or building construction industry that includes project management, procurement and contract administration.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver's Licence (GDL)



with no more than 4 demerits and no current charges or suspensions or charges pending is required.
- Applicants must possess or can obtain a valid Standard First Aid certificate prior to the first day of work.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is required. Proficiency in MS Project would be an asset.
- Project management certification (PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2) would be an asset.
- Knowledge of The City's procurement process, development approval process, and an understanding of design in a wide range of landscape type projects will be an asset.
- Proficient at technical review of digital drawings and knowledgeable in construction materials, practices and procedures.
- Possess strong project organizational and time management skills, organizational ability, digital file management skills and have high attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and decision making.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.

- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several versatile work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Position and Pay Information

- Union: CUPE Local 38
- Position Type: 3 Temporary (up to 18 months)
- Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $46.21 - 61.78 per hour
- Hours of work: Standard 35-hour work week.
- Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3-week cycle.
