Remote Project – Pikangikum First Nation

Rotation: 2–3 Weeks On / 1 Week Off

We are hiring an experienced Foreman to lead a crew on a remote project in Pikangikum First Nation.

The main responsibility of this position is to supervise the jobsite, organize the crew and keep the project moving forward. The successful candidate must also be an experienced carpenter who can operate Heavy Machinery and work alongside the crew when required.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise the construction crew each day.
- Set clear expectations and assign tasks to each worker.
- Make sure the crew understands what needs to be completed and what finished work should look like.
- Monitor productivity and keep workers focused on the day’s priorities.
- Check work throughout the day and correct problems before they become larger issues.
- Provide direction, coaching and support to crew members.
- Address performance, conduct or attendance concerns promptly.
- Maintain a respectful, organized and productive jobsite.
- Lead by example and set the pace for the crew.

Planning and Organization
- Review drawings and project requirements before work begins.
- Plan the daily and weekly work schedule.
- Organize labour, materials, tools, equipment, deliveries and inspections.
- Make sure the crew has everything needed before starting each task.
- Identify upcoming material, equipment and staffing needs in advance.
- Adjust the work plan when delays or problems occur.
- Coordinate subcontractors, deliveries and inspections.
- Keep the jobsite organized and prevent avoidable downtime.
- Report issues early and provide possible solutions.

Carpentry and Heavy Equipment Operation
- Work alongside the crew and complete carpentry work when required.




- Supervise framing, finishing and general construction activities.
- Read and follow construction drawings and specifications.
- Operate heavy equipment safely and competently.
- Complete required equipment inspections before use.
- Coordinate equipment movement, material handling and lifting activities.
- Make sure only trained and authorized workers operate equipment.
- Remove damaged or defective tools and equipment from service immediately.

Quality Control
- Ensure work is completed according to the latest drawings and specifications.
- Check measurements, framing, fastening, fit, level and finishes.
- Correct poor or incomplete work before it moves to the next stage.
- Protect completed work from damage.
- Prepare work areas for inspections.
- Correct deficiencies quickly and prevent repeated mistakes.

Daily Reporting
- Track daily progress, labour hours and material needs.
- Take and upload progress photos using CompanyCam.
- Review and approve crew time using VeriClock.
- Provide clear daily updates on completed work, delays and upcoming needs.
- Report schedule, quality, staffing or material concerns promptly.
- Keep accurate foreman notes and jobsite records.

Health and Safety
- Lead safety by example and enforce company safety requirements.
- Ensure workers wear required PPE and follow safe work procedures.




- Lead daily toolbox talks.
- Ensure required FLHAs, JSAs, permits and equipment inspections are completed.
- Assign work only to workers who are trained and competent.
- Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
- Report incidents, near misses and safety concerns immediately.
- Make sure the crew understands emergency and first-aid procedures.

Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising a construction crew is required.
- Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills.
- Strong carpentry and general construction experience.
- Experience operating construction equipment.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Ability to organize workers, materials and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Comfortable working directly alongside the crew when required.
- Good understanding of construction health and safety requirements.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Comfortable using mobile apps for timekeeping, photographs and reporting.
- Able to work remotely on arotation of 2–3 weeks on and 1 week off.
- Reliable, professional and able to work with limited direction.

Experience working on remote or northern projects is considered an asset. Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
