Chinook School Division is seeking applications for Casual Bus Driver positions throughout the division at the following locations:
Shaunavon (SEIU) - 3 Positions
Vanguard (SEIU) - 2 Positions

Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school as assigned;
- Regular cleaning of the bus;
- Adherence to safe bus driving procedures;
- Compliance with all personal protective equipment procedures;
- Regularly communicating with school Administration and Transportation Department personnel regarding student conduct;
- Conducting daily vehicle inspections as required by The Traffic Safety Act;
- Ensuring bus maintenance standards are being maintained and mechanical deficiencies are reported to the bus garage in a timely manner;
- Ability to work on an on-call basis and adapt to varying routes, schedules, and student populations;
- Promoting the vision, mission, values and goals of Chinook School Division;
Desired Qualifications And Skills
- Minimum Class 5 license with School Bus “S”
- Endorsement or willingness to obtain;
- Possess and maintain a satisfactory driver’s abstract;
- Previous experience working with children;
- Strong communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Strong cognitive ability to make sound decisions;
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
- Ability to deal with a broad range of students, staff and members of the general public;
- Basic computer skills;
- Good physical condition
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally
- Ability to exert up to 20 lbs of force frequently
- Ability to exert up to 10 lbs of force constantly

- Pay range: $21.18 per hour base wage and bus expense allowances. If a route is over 80 KM's there is a per-kilometre adjustment of $0.3100 per kilometre.

- Endorsement Process:
- Pick up a driver handbook from your local SGI office or the transportation department.
- Submit a Bus Driver Medical to SGI (you will need to make arrangements with your health care professional to have this document completed).
- Once the medical is completed and approved, you can book your written exam with SGI.
- Contact Chinook's Driver Assessor to make arrangements for Chinook Driver Training;
- Book your road test with SGI.
- Upon successful completion, submit a copy of your “S”
- Endorsement certification to Human Resources.
