CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (CFS) COUNSELLOR

Location: Tache, BC Status: Full time Reports To: Renata Monk, Social Development Senior Manager

About the Role

Tl’azt’en Nation is seeking a Child and Family Services Counsellor to provide counselling, prevention, crisis intervention, outreach, and family support to children, youth, parents, caregivers, and families. Regular school-based outreach is required at David Hoy Elementary School and Fort St. James Secondary School.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide individual, family, and group counselling; assessments; support plans; crisis intervention; safety planning; and referrals.

· Provide weekly outreach and counselling at David Hoy Elementary School and Fort St. James Secondary School.

· Deliver prevention and wellness programming and support family preservation, reunification, parenting, and community prevention initiatives.

· Work collaboratively with Social Development, Health, the Family Resource Centre, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, schools, and service providers.

· Maintain confidential case notes, client records, statistics, and reports using trauma-informed, strengths-based, family-centred, and culturally grounded practices.

Qualifications

· Degree in Social Work,



Child and Youth Care, Human Services, or a related field; equivalent relevant education and experience will be considered.

· Minimum two years of counselling, family support, or mental health experience with children, youth, and families.

· Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, child development, family systems, and Indigenous approaches to wellness; First Nations experience strongly preferred.

· Strong counselling, assessment, crisis intervention, case management, communication, and collaboration skills.

· Valid BC Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation; satisfactory Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
