Step into the Asbestos Technician/Carpenter role with the City of Winnipeg, available in a hybrid work format. This full-time position encompasses a variety of crucial responsibilities related to asbestos handling. As part of the Assets and Project Management department, you will conduct thorough inspections and manage asbestos-containing materials within city-owned buildings. Your expertise will directly affect public safety and compliance with environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mandatory annual asbestos inspections across buildings
- Execute abatement, repair, and encapsulation strategies
- Manage relevant contracts and project documentation
- Assist with emergency responses concerning hazardous materials
- Safely handle the removal of diverse hazardous materials Requirements:
- Red Seal Certified Journeyperson Carpenter required
- Proven experience of at least 36 months
- Ability to create accurate drawings using AutoCad
- Solid foundation in Microsoft Office tools
- Need for a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License Engage in comprehensive asbestos management practices protecting Winnipeg’s workplace and communities.
