We are a family-owned and operated civil construction contractor that works primarily on projects for BC Hydro. We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Pipelayer/Labourer to join our growing team.

The successful candidate will work closely with the site foreman and other pipelayers to assist with the installation and maintenance of conduits, concrete placement, large vaults, excavation support, and general site cleanliness.

This is a hands-on position that involves physical labour, working around heavy equipment, and operating a variety of hand and power tools. A valid Class 5 driver's license is required, as the successful candidate will be responsible for driving a large company tool van to and from the job site each day.

We provide training for required safety certifications and are looking for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, willing to learn, and interested in building a long-term career in civil construction.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Drive a large company tool van to and from job sites each day, including transporting tools, equipment, and materials as required.
- Load and unload tools, equipment, plastic conduits, and construction materials.
- Move conduits and other materials around the work area.
- Assist pipelayers and the site foreman with conduit installation, vault installation, concrete placement, and other civil construction activities.
- Hand-shovel where required to safely uncover existing buried utilities.
- Work safely in close proximity to excavators, loaders, trucks, and other heavy construction equipment.
- Perform general site cleanup using brooms, flat shovels, rakes, and other tools.




- Perform general labour including raking, shoveling, unloading trucks, and site maintenance.
- Mix, transfer, place, and extend materials such as concrete and asphalt.
- Operate and maintain equipment including rollers, tampers, and a variety of hand and power tools.
- Perform manual labour in confined spaces and deep trenches when required.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on tools and equipment.
- Follow all BC Hydro and company Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) requirements and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Assist with other construction and maintenance tasks as required.

Training Provided
- SILICA training provided, including FIT testing.
- Confined-space entry training.
- BC Hydro-required safety training provided.
- Fall protection Training
- First Aid Training
- Transport Training
- Additional job-specific training will be provided.

Requirements
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and a protected driving record.
- Comfortable driving a large company tool van and responsible for getting the van and crew/tools to and from the job site each day.
- Must be clean-shaven and able to pass a FIT test where required.
- Must be capable of safely operating a circular saw and cutting plywood.




- Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physically capable of performing demanding manual labour, including lifting, shoveling, raking, and working in trenches and confined spaces.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Willingness to learn new skills and take direction from the site foreman.

Assets
- One or more years of civil construction experience, with a privately held or family-owned general contracting company.
- Previous pipelaying experience.
- Experience working around excavators and other heavy construction equipment.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used in civil construction and pipelaying.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Previous experience with BC Hydro projects or utility construction.
