Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Civil Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our construction projects. As a key player in our estimating department, you will be responsible for pricing earthworks, concrete, site services and general civil work for mining, municipal, commercial and developer clients. You will own estimates from tender intake to submission and handoff, working directly with division leadership, our second estimating desk (mechanical), and the field teams whose production numbers feed your pricing.

What You Will Do

- Review tender packages, drawings and specifications; identify scope, risks and gaps; run RFIs rather than carry silent assumptions.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for excavation, rock, backfill, concrete, site services and civil structures - including Canadian Shield conditions, dewatering and winter work.
- Build unit-price and lump-sum estimates: crews, production rates, owned equipment and rentals, materials, subcontractors, indirects and escalation.
- Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier pricing; maintain current rate and pricing libraries.
- Assemble complete, compliant bid submissions (OPSS/municipal forms, mine-site vendor portals) and meet closings.
- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings across Northern Ontario.
- Hand off won work to operations with clear budgets and assumptions; feed as-built costs back into the estimating database.

What You Bring





- 5+ years estimating civil construction for a contractor (earthworks, concrete, municipal services or mine-site civil).
- Ability to read and take off civil, structural and municipal drawing sets confidently.
- Robust Excel skills; experience with estimating software an asset; comfort working with new digital and AI-assisted tools.
- C.E.T., P.Eng. or a civil engineering technology diploma is an asset; field experience that grounds your production rates is equally valued.
- Knowledge of OPSS/OPSD and Northern Ontario market pricing; existing supplier and subcontractor relationships an asset.
- Accuracy under deadline pressure, and the judgment to flag what you do not know.
