We are currently seeking a highly qualified Drafter to join our team at NSI. The Engineering Department Drafting & Modelling Team is currently growing to respond to the needs of our clients. We are looking for highly motivated Drafting Designers.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare drawings for mechanical discipline. This includes but is not limited to piping isometrics, P&IDs;, flowsheets, components, equipment.
- Prepare engineering drawings for mechanical and civil disciplines.
- Prepare full range of engineering drawings based upon notes, sketches, vendor drawing and general direction from design team.
- Interface with Engineering teams, throughout the lifecycle of the design.
- Create models out of rough sketches.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks, AVEVA, SP3D software.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop and modify designs.
- Perform regular quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of designs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all design changes and revisions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2+ years of drafting experience in mechanical and/or civil engineering.
- Associate degree in drafting from technical school, or similar degree.
- Expertise in one or more specific areas of the following: Structural design of steel and concrete structures, connections,
shop drawings and fabrication detailing, Piping isometrics, piping modeling, and pipe support design, Flow diagrams (P&ID; & PFDs), and electrical/instrumentation wiring diagrams
- Good understanding of Quality Assurance requirements and applicable Industry Design Standards is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and specifications, such as CSA, ASME, ASTM, ACI guides, ASME Y14.5.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AVEVA, SP3D software and 3D modeling techniques.
- Good understanding of engineering principles and technical drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in creating and modifying designs.
- Time management skills to meet project deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
