Job Summary

BrainLab Psychology Group is a growing multidisciplinary psychology and mental-health practice providing high-quality assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents, and adults. We are currently seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist or Psychological Associate registered for autonomous practice in Ontario to join our team as an independent contractor.

This position is ideal for an autonomous clinician with strong experience in psychological assessment, diagnosis, case conceptualization, and report writing. We are looking for someone who is comfortable practising with a high degree of professional independence while collaborating, when appropriate, with psychologists, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, nurse practitioners, and other members of a multidisciplinary clinical team.

The clinician will primarily provide psychodiagnostic and/or psychoeducational assessments within their authorized areas and populations of practice. Referrals commonly involve concerns such as ADHD, ASD, learning difficulties, anxiety, mood symptoms, trauma-related presentations, and other psychological or neurodevelopmental concerns.

Depending on the clinician's interests, competencies, and scope of practice, there may also be opportunities to provide psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is not required for clinicians interested primarily in assessment work.

The position may be remote, hybrid, or primarily in person in Ottawa, depending on the clinician's availability, scope of practice, and the services being provided. Scheduling and caseload are flexible and structured around clinician availability and client demand.

Compensation: $150.00-$175.00 per billable client hour

Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments with children, adolescents, and/or adults within authorized areas and populations of practice
- Complete psychodiagnostic, ADHD, ASD, psychoeducational, and other psychological assessments within skilled competence
- Conduct clinical and diagnostic interviews and obtain relevant developmental, psychological, educational, medical, and psychosocial history
- Select and interpret appropriate standardized psychological measures
- Integrate interview findings, psychometric results, behavioural observations, collateral information, and relevant records
- Formulate appropriate diagnoses, differential diagnoses, and case conceptualizations
- Prepare clear, comprehensive, clinically useful psychological assessment reports
- Develop individualized, evidence-informed recommendations based on assessment findings
- Provide feedback sessions to clients, parents, caregivers, and other appropriate parties
- Communicate with referring professionals, schools, healthcare providers, and other members of the client's care team when clinically appropriate and authorized




- Provide psychotherapy within the clinician's scope and competence if desired
- Maintain clear, accurate, comprehensive, and timely clinical documentation
- Exercise sound independent clinical judgment regarding assessment, diagnosis, recommendations, risk, and referral
- Collaborate with other BrainLab clinicians when clients are receiving multidisciplinary services
- Identify situations requiring additional consultation, referral, or a higher level of care
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and independent clinical responsibility
- Adhere to all applicable CPBAO standards, legislation, privacy requirements, documentation standards, and professional and ethical obligations

Qualifications

- Current registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) as a Psychologist or Psychological Associate authorized for autonomous practice
- Authorization to practise with at least one of the populations served by the practice
- Demonstrated experience conducting psychological assessment and diagnosis
- Strong knowledge of psychological assessment, psychometrics, differential diagnosis, and evidence-informed clinical practice
- Strong clinical writing, case conceptualization, and report-writing skills
- Ability to integrate multiple sources of assessment data into clear and clinically meaningful conclusions
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to recognize situations requiring consultation, referral, or additional assessment
- Comfortable working independently and making clinical decisions within authorized areas of practice and professional competence
- Solid organizational, documentation, and caseload-management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills
- Comfortable using electronic clinical systems and providing virtual services where appropriate
- Able to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary practice while maintaining independent professional responsibility for psychological services

Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates with:

- Several years of experience providing psychological assessment in autonomous practice
- Experience conducting psychodiagnostic assessments
- Experience assessing ADHD across the lifespan
- Experience conducting ASD assessments
- Experience conducting psychoeducational or learning assessments
- Experience working with complex or diagnostically overlapping psychological and neurodevelopmental presentations
- Authorization and experience working with more than one population, particularly children, adolescents, and adults
- Experience with commonly used cognitive, academic, behavioural, personality, and diagnostic assessment instruments




- Experience working alongside other psychologists, physicians, nurse practitioners, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, or other mental-health professionals
- Previous experience in private practice, outpatient mental health, hospital-based psychology, community mental health, or a comparable clinical setting
- Experience providing virtual psychological services
- French, Arabic, or other additional language proficiency

Additional Requirements

- Must be eligible to independently provide psychological services to clients located in Ontario
- Must maintain all required CPBAO registration, professional liability insurance, and other requirements associated with autonomous psychological practice
- Must practise only within authorized areas of practice, populations, and demonstrated professional competence
- Reliable access to an appropriate private environment for confidential virtual appointments when providing remote services
- Reliable high-speed internet and ability to use electronic clinical systems effectively
- Commitment to timely report completion, documentation, and professional communication
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, evidence-informed practice, and high-quality client care

Pay: $150.00-$175.00 per hour
