Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Collections Officer specializing in Property Management to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining healthy cash flow by managing accounts receivable, negotiating payment arrangements, and ensuring timely collections. Your proactive approach and excellent customer service skills will help foster positive relationships with tenants and clients while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
Duties
- Manage the accounts receivable process by following up on overdue payments and resolving outstanding balances efficiently
- Contact tenants via phone, email, or written correspondence to discuss payment statuses and negotiate payment plans when necessary
- Maintain accurate data entry of all collection activities into accounting software systems
- Reconcile accounts by analyzing discrepancies, verifying transaction records, and preparing reports for management review
- Collaborate with the accounts payable team to ensure proper recording of payments received and outstanding balances
- Conduct account analysis to identify trends or issues affecting collection efforts and recommend solutions
- Create LTB paperwork for unpaid rent and rent increases
- Monitor rent increases
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing tenant inquiries professionally and courteously, adhering to proper phone etiquette
Requirements
- Proven experience in accounting, accounts receivable, or collections within a property management or financial services environment
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and data entry procedures for accurate record-keeping
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with effective phone etiquette to handle sensitive conversations confidently
- Analytical skills to perform account reconciliation, identify discrepancies, and analyze financial data effectively
- Ability to perform math accurately and analyze account information to determine appropriate actions
- Familiarity with accounts payable processes and financial analysis techniques is a plus
- Exceptional customer service skills with a professional attitude and clear communication style
