Commercial Office Cleaner - Evening Shift (Independent Contractor)

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4pm-midnight with half hour dinner break

Expected hours: 38 per week

About the role

We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented cleaner to maintain the commercial property at 491 Eglinton Ave W, Toronto — both the common areas and the interiors of tenant units — working evenings once tenants and visitors have cleared out.

This is a steady, predictable engagement with regular weeknight hours. The standard you set each evening is the standard the property is judged by. We're looking for someone reliable, thorough, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision, during quiet after-hours conditions. You'll report to the property's designated representative.

Please note: there is no on-site parking. Candidates driving to work will need to arrange their own parking. The property is located next to a TTC subway station.

What you'll be doing

- Nightly cleaning of common areas: lobbies, corridors, stairwells, entrance glass and door hardware
- Nightly cleaning of tenant unit interiors: floors, surfaces, glass, kitchenettes and waste removal, following each unit's access and cleaning instructions
- Washroom cleaning and restocking — toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, paper and soap supplies — in both common areas and tenant units
- Floor care throughout the property: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming; periodic scrubbing and buffing of hard surfaces
- Garbage and recycling collection from common areas and tenant units, transfer to bins, and keeping refuse rooms and loading areas clean and orderly
- Entrance and exterior tidy-up: sweeping walkways, clearing litter from the grounds, wiping down railings and signage
- Spot cleaning of walls, glass, light fixtures, vents and other surfaces on a rotating schedule




- Keeping janitorial rooms organized and flagging supply needs before they run out
- Reporting maintenance issues you spot on your rounds — leaks, burnt-out lights, damaged fixtures, graffiti, anything that looks off
- Securing each unit and the premises properly at the end of each shift (locking up, setting alarms as instructed)
- Occasional deeper cleaning: carpet cleaning, interior window washing, seasonal entrance and lobby cleaning
- Other cleaning duties as assigned from time to time

What we're looking for

- Prior commercial, office, retail, or condominium cleaning experience preferred
- Comfortable working independently in the evening, managing your own routine across the property without close supervision
- Trustworthy and discreet — you'll be working alone inside tenant premises after hours, and respect for tenant property and privacy is essential
- Reliable and punctual — the property depends on a consistent nightly presence
- Physically able to be on your feet for the full shift, lift up to 30 lbs, and handle mops, vacuums, carts and floor equipment
- Familiar with safe handling of cleaning chemicals
- Able to communicate in English
- Able to invoice monthly as an independent contractor, and responsible for your own taxes
