Community Inclusion Worker (Part-Time and Relief)
Chris Rose Therapy Centre for Autism | Kamloops, BC The Chris Rose Therapy Centre for Autism is hiring a Community Inclusion Worker to support two adults with autism in our Community Inclusion Program. This position starts immediately.
This is a meaningful role for someone who enjoys working directly with people, being active in the community, and helping others achieve their personal goals.
Work Schedule
You must be available to work these shifts:
- Tuesday: 9:45 AM to 3:15 PM (5.5 hours)
- Wednesday: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (5.0 hours)
- Thursday: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (5.0 hours)
Total guaranteed hours: 15.5 hours per week Additional relief shifts may be available on Mondays and Fridays. Accepting these extra shifts is optional.
Please note that this is a part-time position and does not qualify for employee benefits.
About the Program
Our Community Inclusion Program supports adults aged 19 and older with Autism Spectrum Disorder who receive services through Community Living BC (CLBC).
Each person has unique goals, interests, strengths, and support needs. We create individualized programs designed specifically for them.
In this position, you will work primarily one-to-one with the same individuals. There is very little group programming.
We are also looking for staff who are willing to work relief. We are open Monday through Friday (no overnights or weekends), and most of our shifts fall between 8 AM and 3 PM, but those hours will depend on who you are working with.
What You Will Do
This is a community-based position.
Most of your workday will be spent out in the community rather than in an office.
Activities may include
- Swimming
- Crafts and creative activities
- Cooking and baking
- Outdoor recreation
- Sensory-based activities
- Community outings
You will also transport the person you support to activities using your own reliable vehicle. Personal Care and Behaviour Support
Each individual has a personalized support plan.
Responsibilities may include
- Assisting with toileting and personal care
- Supporting individuals during behavioural challenges
- Following behaviour support plans
- Remaining calm, patient, and supportive during difficult situations
Qualifications
Applicants must
- Be available for all scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday shifts
- Have a valid BC driver's licence
- Have access to a reliable vehicle for work-related transportation
- Hold a valid Emergency First Aid - Community Care certificate, or be willing to obtain one at their own expense
- Be comfortable providing personal care, including toileting assistance
- Be comfortable supporting individuals who may display challenging behaviours
- Be able to work independently in community settings
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience supporting individuals with autism, developmental disabilities,
or diverse support needs is an asset, but training will be provided to the right candidate. Why Join Our Team?

- This position requires you to transport the person(s) you work with in your own vehicle while working (there are reimbursement packages). What type of vehicle do you drive?
- One of the activities we do with the individuals we work with is swim therapy, where the staff is in the water as well as the person(s) they are working with. What are your swimming skills?
- A valid Emergency Community Care (or equivalent) First Aid with CPR Level B is required for this position. If you do not have that, you will be responsible to obtain your initial certification at your own cost. Are you prepared to do this?
