Position Summary The Disability Community Support Worker provides compassionate, person-centered support to adults with disabilities in both residential and community-based settings. This role is dedicated to enhancing individuals’ independence, quality of life, safety, and overall well-being through respectful, individualized care and support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred assistance with ADLs, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, bathing, toileting, and meal preparation.
- Provide medication support in accordance with care plans, policies, and safety procedures, including accurate documentation.
- Build positive relationships through companionship, active listening, emotional support, and encouragement.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, positioning, and safe lifting while promoting dignity, safety, and independence.
- Support individuals in participating in social, recreational, educational, and community activities.
- Observe, document, and report changes in health,
behaviour, or support needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping, laundry, and infection prevention practices.
- Complete accurate daily notes, medication records, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, families, healthcare professionals, and other support team members.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in disability, residential, community, or home support is an asset.
- Knowledge of person-centred support practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Compassionate, patient, reliable, and respectful approach.
- Ability to assist with personal care, mobility, transfers, and lifting.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check completed within the last 6 months.
- Valid Basic or Standard First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
- Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts as required.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence, reliable vehicle, and minimum $2 million liability insurance.
Location & Availability
- Positions available in North and South Edmonton.
- Opportunities to support male and female individuals,
depending on client needs.
- Shift requirements may vary based on client schedules and service needs.
- Same-gender staffing may be required for certain personal-care assignments.
